  • Mission Statement of the NWAAC, Inc.: (PDF online | Zip file)

    1. Mission Statement: Our mission is to create an environment where the arts flourish. It is our goal to do this through:
Advocacy: We partner with local, state and federal educational and governmental bodies for arts-related funding and events Promotion: We promote the rich, artistic uniqueness of Northwest Alabama to local, regional, state and national audiences Coordination: We coordinate artists, arts groups and the community to work together Education: We encourage the arts-related education of students, audiences and arts professionals Access: We encourage all audiences and all artists who wish to participate in the arts in any way, at any level.
Our Goals: -- To strengthen the arts as one of Northwest Alabama’s key industries and civic resources -- To engage all of Northwest Alabama in the arts -- To make Northwest Alabama a preeminent arts destination

    2.
Purpose: The Northwest Alabama Arts Council, established in 2004, is a regional non-profit organization committed to the promotion and support of the arts and in the northwest Alabama area. This arts council and the Jerry Brown Arts Festival will function as a whole entity and be governed only by those who are vested in the advancement of Art and Art Education for the NW Alabama area. The primary focus of the Northwest Alabama Arts Council is the Jerry Brown Arts Festival and its continued growth and success. The JBAF hosted a very successful second season with grants from the Alabama Council of the Arts, in Montgomery. After the close of the 2004 season the JBAF Chair and Committee established that there was a need for the festival to be housed under a non-political entity that is encompassed of many communities, rather than just one.

    3. Main Festival: Jerry Brown Arts Festival | first weekend in March each year.

    4. Council meetings:
The NWAAC's scheduled meetings will be announced via email to all members. If you'd like to be on our mail-list let us know -- email and ask:

The NWAAC is funded, in part, by the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
